Pius heads the firm’s Intellectual Property and Data Protection teams. He also heads the firm’s Abuja office. Pius was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2014 after obtaining his LL.B (Hons) from Igbinedion University Okada.  He has relevant experience advising clients on a broad range of intellectual property and commercial disputes. Since joining the Firm, Pius has garnered vast experience in Corporate Commercial Transactions, Intellectual Property Law, Entertainment Law and Dispute Resolution. 

 

Over the course of his career, he has demonstrated competence in resolving local and international intellectual property issues. He has also a keen interest in Data Protection law and regulatory compliances.  Pius has also garnered substantial experience and expertise in advising clients on Real Estate, Regulatory Compliances and Entertainment Law transactions. As a writer, Pius has published articles and commentaries on a wide range of subjects such as litigation, intellectual property, entertainment law and data protection.

 

He is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Nigeria, the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association. Pius possesses a deep understanding of complex intellectual property issues and proffers practical solutions.  

 

As part of the transactions involved in, Pius has advised on:

 

  • Team member of the legal team that successfully defended former President Buhari at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and the appeal at the Supreme Court in 2019.
  • Key member of the team representing a multinational client in a multi-billion-naira real estate dispute in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
  • Key member of the legal team that successfully represented the interest of the Minister of Petroleum Resources in a dispute against an international oil company in a matter concerning the renewal of an Oil Mining License (OML 11).
  • Led the team that represented the interest of the franchisee in a multi-million-naira franchise dispute between a Nigerian franchise and a foreign company.
  • Advised a foreign pharmaceutical company on the assignment of its intellectual property rights to a Nigerian entity.
  • He advises multi-national clients on the management of their respective intellectual property portfolios.
  • Represented a number of foreign clients in various intellectual property transactions and disputes.
