Ugochukwu heads the Information Communications and Technology (‘ICT’) and Fintech Practice Group in Perchstone and Graeys LP (the “Firm”). Ugo is a distinguished corporate, commercial, and Fintech lawyer with an in-depth understanding of the Nigerian legal landscape. A law graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Ugo was called to the Nigerian Bar as a qualified legal practitioner in 2004. With a rich and diverse professional background, Ugo has honed his expertise through his tenure as an experienced in-house lawyer at two leading tier-1 banks in Nigeria, where he gained valuable insights into the intricacies of banking and financial law. Ugo’s career trajectory led him to join P&G in 2015, where he swiftly ascended to leadership, playing an instrumental role in propelling the firm’s Fintech practice to prominence.

His visionary contributions have been pivotal in shaping P&G’s Fintech practice into a powerhouse within the legal sphere, notably through his adept guidance on the intersection of law and technology within the financial sector as well as data protection. Ugo’s distinguished expertise extends beyond mere practice, as he has actively participated in shaping regulatory frameworks and standards. His involvement in the committee that drafted and reviewed the SEC Rules on Crowdfunding, released by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in February 2021, serves as a testament to his impactful contributions to shaping contemporary regulatory frameworks within the Nigerian financial landscape.

Furthermore, Ugo’s involvement in the SEC Fintech Implementation Working Committee of the Capital Market underscores his commitment to advancing the regulatory landscape to accommodate the dynamic Fintech ecosystem.

In addition to his impactful regulatory involvement, Ugo has showcased his thought leadership by speaking at symposiums and publishing numerous articles on fintech, artificial intelligence, digital assets, blockchain technology, banking, finance, and capital markets.
